Jacqueline Ruiyang Cao
Jackie was born in Beijing, China, into a merchant family that always encouraged her to see the world and expand her horizons. Her parents instilled in her a strong business acumen. She saw firsthand, from a very young age, how a well-thought-out business proposal can grow through hard work and determination into a successful international company.
When Jackie was a little girl, her grandfather taught her calligraphy, which enabled to see and appreciate beauty in the world, as well as teaching her how to concentrate, focus and persevere. These are traits which she has taken with her throughout her life. Her love for calligraphy inspired Jackie
to delve further into the arts while in high school. She tried different forms of artistic expression; from singing to acting to radio hostess. She had the opportunity to perform in competitions and plays and even had her own radio talk show.
Jackie graduated from Beijing City College in 2012, with a BA in Fashion Planning and Management. After finishing her undergraduate degree, she worked for Beijing’s top advertising company. While Jackie enjoyed advertising, she found herself more and more drawn to the fashion world. This leads her to research the top fashion university’s in the world. She decided to enter the Academy of Art University’s prestigious Master Fashion Merchandising program in 2015.
The Academy’s graduate programs are known for being rigorous and demanding, which has honed Jackie’s fashion skills in the areas of visual merchandising and display, retail management and store operations, online retailing, buying and trend analysis. She graduated this May with an MA in Fashion Merchandising. Jackie’s plans are to work for an innovative fashion leader with headquarters in the Bay Area. Her dream is to begin her professional career as an assistant buyer, merchandiser or visual display specialist.
